To be honest, the answer is pretty straight.
Shivani Chaudhary, A simple girl from Navi Mumbai, completing her graduation in Architecture.
But I enjoy complicating things.
It started as a hobby, but soon I realized that I find solace in travelling. When I was young, we (me and my family) would go on vacations to visit famous cities in India. I used to just 'see' the city back then, as I was young and naive. But I have always been a curious child. I was very keen on understanding the place, the people.
It is my belief that every city, every place is unique. And so, I would constantly ask myself, "What made this place unique?" From a very young age, I have been trying to find my answer. These vacations became extremely interesting. I would talk to strangers (which freaked my mom at first but soon she got used to it.) and try to understand the city.
As I grew up, I started doing my research before going anywhere. I read every shred of information i could lay my hands on. And hence, when my family was roaming on the streets of a new city, I knew what to do and who to talk to. It was as if I had been to this place before. I enjoyed the myths, the
local folklore, the village stories, the history, the people, etc. This hobby turned into an obsession as I realized how much I enjoyed it.
My family loved the leisure and I got to travel. A win win situation. We started having at least one international tour along with our Indian ones every year.
My passion channelized further when I started my graduation course. Architecture is not just study of buildings. It is about understanding how a place functions and how a structure responds (or will respond) to it. Architecture has changed with change in era. This change is inevitable, and so is tradition and culture. The contrast between the two, ranges in frequencies and is unique for every city. And this was a part of the answer to my question.
What made these cities different? Unique?
It was the people, the architecture, the tradition, the culture, and the influence, leading to the most important factor, acceptance of change.
In this blog, I would like to share my experience and knowledge that I have gained. I am here to share my love and passion for travelling and learning.
